2008 Spring Gala Dinner Dance
Dear Scituate Library Supporter:
The award-winning investigative reporter and Agatha Award literary award recipient, Hank Phillippi Ryan, will be the guest author at the Scituate Library Foundation's Sixth Annual Spring Gala Dinner Dance & Silent Auction on Friday evening, May 23rd at the Barker Tavern.
Ms. Ryan, has been a 7-NEWS reporter at WHDH-TV in Boston for the past 22 years. She is a highly prized professional with more than 50 prestigious awards from news organizations all over the world including 24 Emmy awards. Most recently, she won two Emmys in 2004 and another in 2005 for her investigative and consumer reporting. She also won an Edward R. Murrow Award (her 10TH) for her investigative series Cause for Alarm.
Hank recently added “author” to her impressive resumé. Her journalism background, coupled with real-life experiences, has produced a series of books that are fast-paced, entertaining and always with an interesting twist. Her first novel, Prime Time, recently won an Agatha (Christie) Award, and is a nominee for a “Romantic Book Review Choice Award.” Prime Time and Face Time (her latest novels), are best sellers. Air Time and Drive Time will be published later this year.
More information can be found on Ms. Ryan 's website.
During the past five years the SLF's black-tie optional Spring Gala has become “the social and cultural event of the year" in Scituate, while raising more than $100,000 for the Foundation's endowment fund.
At the present time, there are a limited number of 2008 Gala tickets available for purchase. Gala tickets may be purchased online or by contacting Art Dunphy at
(781) 544-0070.
We also invite you or your employer to consider sponsoring the 2008 Gala Dinner Dance. Circle Sponsorship level details can be reviewed by clicking here.
And finally, we are always in need for quality items for our Silent Auction. If you have tickets to a sporting or theatre event, a vacation cottage or time-share, painting, sporting goods item, gift certificate, or anything else that would make a good Silent Auction item, let us know, we would appreciate your tax deductible contribution.
Thank you for your continued support of the Scituate Library Foundation.
2008 Silent Auction
When Is the 2008 Silent Auction?
On Friday, May 23, the Scituate Library Foundation will hold its Seventh Annual Spring Gala Dinner Dance and Silent Auction at the Barker Tavern. Each year, the Foundation Board of Directors distributes this Sealed Bid Form to interested bidders who are unable to attend the gala but want to access the silent auction items. Click here to download the Sealed Bid Form. (214k)
How Does the Sealed Bid Form Work?
Following the closing of all on-site bids at the gala dinner dance,
all sealed bids will then be opened and compared. The highest bidder wins the auction item. In the event of tying sealed bids, the earliest time/date stamp of receipt at the Library will be considered the item winner.
What Happens if I Don’t Win the Item?
All non-winning bids will have their Sealed Bid Form(s), check or
payment information returned to them immediately following the gala. NOTE: Checks will be returned uncashed and none of your financial information will be recorded by the Foundation.
